About

The new CMNS Imaging Incubator facility provides researchers with the opportunity to image live, fixed, unlabeled or fluorescently labeled samples using one of several advanced light microscope systems. Faculty, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students with any level of experience, from any department, are invited to use the facility's microscopes. Outside users are welcome, as well, though priority goes to UMD researchers.

Services

Dr. Aleksandr Smirnov provides training on all equipment, guidance on experimental design, and assistance with microscope operation. Investigators can either choose to have the director operate a microscope for them (assisted imaging), or be trained to operate the operate a microscope independently. Training is comprehensive, and tailored to meet the user's specific needs. Fully trained users can access the facility 24/7, 365 days-a-year,  subject to stated reservation limitations as described in the facility's Standard Operating Procedures.

Please see the New User Guide for more information on how to set up an assisted-imaging or training appointments. For information on hourly rates and training fees, see the Rates page.
